State notes
South Carolina reports long-term care data for Nursing Homes and Community Residential Care Facilities (CRCF). COVID Tracking Project puts Nursing Homes in the Nursing Home category and Community Residential Care Facilities in the Assisted Living category. South Carolina reports cumulative and outbreak data. South Carolina does provide facility-level data for Nursing Homes and Community Residential Care Facilities. South Carolina reports staff and resident cases and staff and resident deaths separately. Data is cumulative since April 3, 2020. South Carolina provides cumulative totals for resident and staff cases and resident and staff deaths and number of facilities with a case. South Carolina provides outbreak data for resident and staff cases and resident and staff deaths and number of facilities with a case. South Carolina defines an outbreak as a facility with one or more cases by a resident and/or staff in a 14 day period. CTP does not include cases and deaths for the following facility types: "Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities" and "Residential Treatment Facility for Children & Adolescents."
- June 25, 2020: CTP carried over the outbreak data from June 22.
- August 3, 2020: Cumulative nursing home staff deaths decreased from nine to two in South Carolina’s reporting.
- September 3, 2020: SC did not report their 30-day active list, so CTP was unable to record outbreak totals.
- September 10, 2020: South Carolina resumed reporting their 30-day active list.

Facility notes
The state provides facility-level cumulative data. The state does not provide facility-level outbreak data. Cumulative facility-level data was first reported by the state on 2020-08-20.
Because each state reports facility-level data differently, CTP has produced a number of scripts to make the dataset as standardized and comprehensive as possible. This state uses the following scripts: post_processing, standardize_data. More information on each of these scripts can be found in our Airtable Facility Script Annotations.
