Week-by-week Summary Totals

The table below represents The COVID Tracking Project’s week-by-week account of national long-term-care summary data between May 21, 2020, and March 4, 2021. Not all states and territories reported long-term-care data, and some states provided only current outbreak numbers, not cumulative totals. Where states did not report long-term-care data, we supplemented with data from the state’s largest counties; where states reported only by current outbreaks, we carried over the state’s highest reported outbreak totals.

Our case and death counts below represent both residents and staff of long-term-care facilities and include some probable cases and deaths. Our facility counts represent the nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, assisted-living facilities, and other kinds of congregate living facilities for older adults that states included in their long-term-care datasets.
